This is the story of a teenager who, after finishing high school, sat with his mother on the steps outside their house. Financial difficulties were always a concern at home, despite having a steady income. This was mainly because the teenager’s father spent more on drinks than on his family, making it clear how much his mother struggled to make ends meet. One day, while his mother was sitting on the steps in tears, he joined her. To comfort her, he reassured her not to worry, promising that he would grow up, get a job, and that she wouldn’t have to be sad ever again. He also said that, in addition to the job, he would start a business and become a wealthy man. If it had been any other mother, she might have laughed at him, but his mother was serious and expressed her complete faith in him, declaring that he was the family’s only hope. He also confided in her that all his classmates ridiculed him when he told his teacher he wanted to be a pilot. His inspiration came from his uncle, his father’s brother, who worked as a flight Engineer with Air India, and all his questions focused on flying.
Time flew, years passed, and this teenager ultimately became a $millionaire, fulfilling his promise to his mother. As they say, behind every (not so) great man, there is a woman; his wife, a great source of support, and after their marriage, everything he did was to impress her. She was indeed a soulmate. Since they married early, they both became parents to two lovely girls. His girls grew up, and once both of them were married off, the protagonist of our story told his wife and daughters that he wanted to be a pilot. They were all surprised as he was 58 years old. His resolve brought him to South Florida, where he started his initial training at a flight school in Boca Raton. During his training, being the businessman that he is, he decided to start a flying school, Aamro Aviation Corp, and he was the first student from the school to get his PPL. The rest is history. No prizes for guessing who the protagonist of this story is.
Despite being a millionaire, I remain a pauper; I lost my mother in 2022, and there is no one to sit with me on the steps anymore. My beloved wife, Geetha, departed for her heavenly abode on 22nd June 2023. I still have not come to terms with my loss, perhaps my bad karma, for which I have no clue, as I never harmed anyone; on the contrary, I helped a lot of people. I always made an honest dollar.
The daily running of the whole group is managed by my daughters, Veena and Seena, and Seena’s husband, Lakshay. I am now semi-retired and trying to reconnect with my old favourite habits, such as reading books (both fiction and non-fiction) and writing, which I find comforting.
